It\u2019s important to keep these relationships positive.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Write email templates for reminders,<\/strong> but always add a personal touch.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>If you\u2019re hungry for a taste of the best process for collecting past due accounts receivable, let&#8217;s get cooking!<\/h4>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Collecting Money from Your Customers<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h3><strong>Essential Ingredients:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Invoice<\/li>\n<li>Accounts Receivable aging report<\/li>\n<li>Customer&#8217;s email address<\/li>\n<li>Customer&#8217;s phone number<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Optional Ingredients:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A pleasant customer service voice<\/li>\n<li>Pre-written email templates<\/li>\n<li>A quiet room for phone calls<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Before the due date, send the customer invoice along with a friendly reminder of the due date.<\/li>\n<li>5 days after the due date, send a friendly reminder that the bill is past due and ask if there are any issues the customer is facing that could prevent them from paying their bill. If there are, you can negotiate a new payment schedule you are both comfortable with.<\/li>\n<li>If you couldn\u2019t come to a conclusion, or you didn\u2019t receive an answer, call the customer five days after the email to remind them again that their bill is past due. If they don&#8217;t answer, leave a voicemail. Just remember to keep it friendly.<\/li>\n<li>Five days later, reach out to the client via phone for a conversation with them. What is preventing them from paying you? Maybe there is a way to work it out.<\/li>\n<li>If the client does not respond after a week, let them know that they have one week before you will take them off of the customer list. Keep an eye on customer payment trends and create a blacklist if necessary. Hopefully it won\u2019t come to that, but sometimes it might.
